Project summary:

The creation of the position of regional prevention coordinator and their integration into the network of prevention coordinators across Slovakia will increase public awareness of the systematic and accessible prevention support provided by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and local governments. An educational activity designed for third-year high school students in the Trnava Self-Governing Region will teach them about the risk factors associated with the use of easily accessible addictive substances, which are linked to the development of cardiovascular diseases and strokes (non-communicable diseases), teach them to recognize symptoms early and provide first aid. The project is being implemented in the Trnava Self-Governing Region with the aim of achieving the planned indicators.

Project activities:

a1	Establishment and maintenance of a prevention coordinator position and/or allocation of 1–2 FTE of new or existing staff and resources to carry out a range of tasks in the area of noncommunicable disease prevention and health promotion
a2	Active participation of stakeholders in a multisectoral network and in a communication platform coordinated by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic
a3	Initiative to increase health literacy—health education focused primarily on secondary school students
