General information

The Support Measure “Improving quality and attractiveness of vocational education and training (VET) towards labour market needs” falls under the Thematic Area “Vocational and professional education and training.” It will be implemented as a Project. The main goal of this Project is to improve the quality and flexibility of the VET system in Slovakia reflecting in enhanced manner the labour market needs. The Project shall bring flexible permeability to the educational system utilising also tools of non-formal and informal learning offered by lifelong learning. It shall increase the interconnection of vocational education  with labour market needs through the adjustment and innovation of the existing vocational education fields, increasing the participation of employers in the education system and proposing alternatives for raising qualification.

The Executing Agency and Beneficiary is the State Institute of Vocational Education (SIVE). This Project builds upon the “VET for the Labour Market” Project, which was implemented within the first Swiss Contribution. In the framework of the first Project, SIVE cooperated with the Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training (SFUVET), and the successful Slovak-Swiss cooperation continues in this Project under the second Swiss-Slovak Cooperation Programme.

The allocation from the second Swiss Contribution (85%) amounts to 5,750,000 Swiss francs. Together with co-financing from the State Budget of the Slovak Republic (15%), the total eligible project expenditure is 7,102,941 euros. The planned implementation period is 55 months.

The Project “Improving quality and attractiveness of vocational education and training (VET) towards labour market needs” was approved by the Swiss Authorities on 9. July 2024. The Support Measure Agreement was signed on 16. September 2024.

The Project Contract between the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic and the State Institute of Vocational Education was signed on 25. November 2024.
