    General information

The support measure “Improving the quality and attractiveness of vocational education and training (VET) in line with labour market needs” falls under the thematic area “Vocational and Vocational Education and Training”. It will be implemented in the form of a project. The main objective of this project is to improve the quality and flexibility of the VET system in Slovakia, reflecting more closely the needs of the labour market. The project will bring flexible permeability to the education system, also using the tools of non-formal education and informal learning offered by lifelong learning. This will improve the link between vocational education and labour market needs by adapting and innovating existing vocational training courses, thereby increasing employer participation in the education system and creating alternatives for up-skilling.

The implementing body and the Beneficiary is the State Institute of Vocational Training (SIVT). This project builds on the project “VET for the labour market” implemented with the first Swiss contribution. Already in the framework of the first project ŠIOV cooperated with the Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training (SFUVET) and the successful Slovak-Swiss cooperation continues in this project from the second Swiss-Slovak Cooperation Programme.

The allocation from the second Swiss contribution (85%) is 5 750 000 Swiss francs. With co-financing from the State Budget of the Slovak Republic (15%), the total amount of eligible expenditure for the project is EUR 7 102 941. The duration of implementation is planned for 55 months.

The project “Improving the quality and attractiveness of Vocational Education and Training (VET) in line with labour market needs” was approved by the Swiss side on 9 July 2024. The agreement on the support measure was signed on 16 September 2024.
