  • A New Chapter for the Confectionery Craft: Slovakia Develops a Master Craftsperson Examination System

Slovakia is drawing inspiration from the Swiss vocational education model in developing a new master craftsperson examination system for confectioners. During an expert workshop organized by the State Institute of Vocational Education (SIVE), representatives of schools, professional organizations, the Ministry of Education, and Swiss experts discussed how to establish a system that will enhance the prestige and quality of the confectionery profession.

Swiss experts presented a model based on close cooperation between the state, employers, and professional associations, with a strong emphasis on practical skills assessment and the thorough preparation of examiners. Recommendations also included the introduction of pilot examinations to test and refine the system before its official launch.

The aim of the planned master craftsperson examinations is to create a credible certification system recognized by employers and the professional community alike. The new model is expected to support the development of craftsmanship skills, increase the attractiveness of the confectionery profession, and provide talented professionals with an opportunity to earn a prestigious professional qualification.

The experience gained from Switzerland has confirmed that Slovakia is on the right path toward establishing a modern master craftsperson examination system that can contribute to higher-quality vocational education and strengthen the position of skilled trades in the labour market.  More information about this activity can be found on the project website.
