  • The National Institute of Vocational Education organised a key discussion on the future of vocational education in the construction industry

    On 19 November 2024, the State Institute of Vocational Education (SIVE) hosted a two-day strategy meeting on vocational education development in the construction sector. The event was part of a Swiss-Slovak project aimed at improving the quality and attractiveness of vocational education.

    Key discussion points:

    • Increasing the attractiveness of vocational education for young people and their parents
    • More intensive link between vocational secondary schools and the labour market
    • Updating training programmes according to the needs of employers
    • Greater involvement of entrepreneurs and small employers in the education process

    • Department of Education of the Prešov Regional Government
    • Regional centres of ŠIOV
    • Trade unions and professional organisations (SŽK, RÚZ)

    Next steps. The next discussion will take place in early December 2024 with a focus on the agricultural and food sector.

    The main objective is to create a modern education system that will effectively prepare young professionals for the current needs of the labour market.
