  • Signing of the Support Measure Agreement “Vocational Education and Training”

A significant milestone has been reached within the second Swiss-Slovak Cooperation Programme. On 16 September 2024, in Bratislava, the Support Measure Agreement “Improving the quality and attractiveness of vocational education and training (VET) towards labour market needs” was signed. This Project will be implemented by the State Institute of Vocational Education. It builds on the successful Project “VET for the Labour Market,” which was carried out by the State Institute of Vocational Education under the first Swiss-Slovak Cooperation Programme. The Swiss Partner, the Swiss Federal University of Vocational Education and Training (SFUVET), was involved in that Project, and this cooperation will continue in the new Project.

The Project’s objective is to improve the quality and flexibility of the vocational education and training system in Slovakia, better addressing labour market needs and strengthening connections with employers. The Project will focus on three areas: strengthening workplace-based learning, increasing permeability of the system, and the education and integration of foreigners into the labour market.

The Project is planned for 55 months, with 85% of the total expenditure of CHF 5.75 Million financed by the second Swiss contribution.
