Project summary:

The City of Pezinok, in partnership with the civic association Harmonia Vitalis and the Swiss partner City Health Kahlmeier Bircher, is focusing on the prevention of non-communicable diseases, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and the strengthening of community resilience in line with the principles of WHO Healthy Cities. The aim is to enhance health literacy, inclusiveness, and partnerships between the city, experts, and the community, while creating effective models of governance, methodological support, and systemic cooperation between institutions. This will ensure long-term sustainability and the integration of prevention into the city’s strategic structures.

The project consists of 10 activities, ranging from project management and the coordinator of prevention, through the City Health Profile, active mobility, and changes in the physical environment, to community programs and membership in the international Healthy Cities network.

Project results:

• Coordinated involvement of self-governments in NCD prevention and health promotion
• Increased awareness and understanding of NCDs and health promotion among the general public
• Improved coordination and communication at the municipal level in the area of noncommunicable disease prevention and health promotion
