Project summary:

The “Šaľa – Healthy City” project focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle, preventing obesity and non-communicable diseases by improving nutrition, increasing physical activity, and developing infrastructure. Its goal is to reduce avoidable mortality and enhance residents’ well-being. Target groups include pupils, parents, teachers, seniors, employees with sedentary jobs, and the general public, with involvement from local government, experts, sports clubs, and communities. The project includes establishing a position of the Prevention Coordinator, preparing a city health profile, building partnerships in the Healthy Cities network, and constructing a pump track and running oval. Soft activities will promote exercise (Sports Thursdays, RUN of TITAN’s, “Healthy Back”), healthy nutrition (“Healthy Snack”, school gardens, cooperation with restaurants), education, and environmental clean-up. A campaign will also encourage drinking tap water as an alternative to sugary drinks.
