Project summary:

The Healthy City Nitra project improves the health of residents through prevention, strengthening mental health, and creating a healthy environment. It is based on up-to-date local data (surveys 2022, 2024) and engages universities, NGOs, and public institutions. Four pillars – strategic framework, social and physical environment, and health literacy – form a sustainable prevention model.

The project builds on previous initiatives of the city and its partners while reflecting the priorities of the WHO and the EU in the areas of non-communicable disease prevention, mental health promotion, and resilient community development.

The project aims not only for a strong local impact but also for the transferability to other cities, thereby strengthening knowledge exchange, international cooperation, and the sustainability of the solution.

  • Coordinated involvement of self-governments in NCD prevention and health promotion
  • Increased awareness and understanding of NCDs and health promotion among the general public
  • Improved coordination and communication at the municipal level in the area of noncommunicable disease prevention and health promotion
