  • SIVE and IOM Prepare Tools to Improve the Integration of Foreign Workers in the Workplace

The State Institute of Vocational Education (SIVE), in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), is launching a new initiative aimed at helping Slovak companies better integrate foreign workers into the workplace. Representatives of both institutions signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, at the premises of the Swiss Contribution Office in Bratislava.

The initiative responds to the historically high number of foreign workers in Slovakia and the ongoing labour shortages in key sectors such as industry and transport.

SIVE and IOM will develop practical methodological tools and recommendations to support employers in areas such as legal obligations, onboarding processes, managing cultural differences, and building inclusive working environments.

The tools will be pilot tested directly in companies, and the final version of a practical integration manual is expected to be completed by July 2027. This manual should serve as a foundation for the sustainable employment and integration of foreign workers in Slovakia.

More information is available on the SIVE website.
