Project summary:

The goal of the “Step Toward Healthy Bones” project—a regional osteoporosis prevention program in the Trečnín region—is to improve the population’s health literacy and establish accessible prevention measures for noncommunicable diseases, thereby reducing their incidence and preventable mortality. The project addresses the region’s current challenges regarding disease prevention. The project consists of two selected activities:

– an educational and informational campaign (primary prevention), linked to educational activities on healthy nutrition, the importance of physical activity, fall prevention, and home safety. The campaign will target young people as well as underserved senior communities.

– the introduction of the FRAX questionnaire into preventive screenings (secondary prevention), thereby ensuring access to services that support health maintenance and disease prevention through interventions that identify risk factors and early signs of disease.

Project results:

  • Coordinated involvement of self-governments in NCD prevention and health promotion
  • Increased awareness and understanding of NCDs and health promotion among the general public
